Welcome to another interesting #TopFiveTuesday here on ATIB. Today I have plenty of books about books to share with you. Jen Campbell opened up a whole world to me with The Bookshop Book and it became my minor obsession to learn about book culture all around the globe. That led me to read the rest of the books on this list among plenty others that I hope to share on some more lists in the future. Books about books are one of the best reads for me so it is good to celebrate them here. Enjoy the list and let me know if you have read any of these!

The Bookshop Book by Jen Campbell

The Bookshop Book was a pivotal book for me as a reader and eventually as a blogger. It opened a whole different aspect of books to me and plunged me into the world of book appreciation that was bigger than I can ever imagine. I should really be a bit angry with Jen because now I have a list of bookshops I am dying to go and see but no time or money to go and see them! Never mind though, one day I hope to do a book tour of the UK and even some abroad. We can hope. Jen delves into the vast amounts of charismatic and wondrous bookshops we have scattered across the world and the backstories on their essence. It is an essential read for any book lover and led me to books 2 and 4 on this list.

The Diary Of A Bookseller by Shaun Bythell

I couldn’t believe my luck when I was offered the opportunity to review The Diary of a Bookseller for Profile Books. I had heard all about The Bookshop from Jen Campbell so I was eager to hop in and hear all about the general ins and outs of running a second hand book shop. TDOAB is a classic read that will wet any book lovers appetite and warm our appreciation of coming across a special book when perusing a used bookstore. Never-mind Waterstones, this is where the heart of book-selling lies.

Browse by Henry Hitchings

Browse was a cool read as it takes around the global and tells stories of defining moments in reading. Everyone one has a special moment they attribute to their love of reading and that can happen all over the world. I still think about the bookshop in India where they could only choose one book a week! Could you imagine only getting one book a week? I barely survive on 5 a week atm. Greedy chops I know but reading is great!

The Bookshop That Floated Away by Sarah Henshaw

The Bookshop That Floated Away is a phenomenal story and one I am keen to revisit. Sarah took her bookshop on a boat for a tour around the country, living of her takings and the kindness of her fans. Travelling the country in a cramped boat stuffed with books, traversing Britain’s difficult canals and meeting unique people is just a couple of reasons to pick this up. It is charming story of dedication and book love and a must read.

The Novel Cure: An A to Z of Literary Remedies by Ella Berthoud

I have to admit something right here… I have only read a few chapters of this book! You know what it is like, pick up one book then change your mind then go back and repeat. I do love this book though as the format is pure genius and there are so many top notch book recommendations in here it is unreal. It has books for every mood and is the closest thing I have come to that resembles a cure for a book slump. It is yet another must read for book lovers everywhere!

It is great to chat about books so it is an even greater pleasure to read whole books dedicated to them! This is a great list of bookish books and I hope that you have either read them already or have instantly added them all to your TBRs. You won’t regret it! Jen Campbell is a hero of mine because she is fiercely dedicated to the written word and celebrates books every chance she gets.
