Shelfie by Shelfie #1 – Book Tag by @bibliobeth1 #Booktag #Bookshelf #Books #Bookblog #WhyIRead #ShelfiebyShelfie #Questions

Hello and welcome to my first attempt at the Shelfie by Shelfie book tag created by the amazing Beth @ Bibliobeth. Beth is been source of support and inspiration to me and blogging for a long time and if you haven’t heard of her then get yourself over to Beth’s blog right now. I really liked the idea of this book tag and couldn’t wait to give it a go. I am sorry it took so long but I finally have the time! I am going to answer questions about one of my many bookshelves. Enjoy the post, check out the original post here and definitely give this a go yourself!

1.) Is there any reason for this shelf being organised the way it is or is it purely random?

I like to keep my hardbacks all together so I have 5 shelves filled with them next to my bed. I am very protective of my hardbacks, all my paperbacks go in my downstairs book shelf. Yep, I have a huge bookcase in my front room… My life is all rock and roll 😀

2.) Tell us a story about one of the books on this shelf that is special to you i.e. how you got it/ a memory associated with it etc.

That would have to be How To Stop Time because Matt Haig is one of my all time favourite authors and I actually met him in Norwich. He signed my copy and thanked me for the review I had posted that day for his book. Good times!

3.) Which book from this shelf would you ditch if you were forced to and why?

How To Build A Car… I am not mechanical in any shape or form so I doubt I would be that distraught if it ever went missing. I was sent it by HarperCollins for review but have never had the inclination to pick it up, maybe some day!

4.) Which book from this shelf would you save in an emergency and why?

The Wild Book. It is a outdoors book so I think I may need it to figure out how to build a proper fire etc if I ever find myself battling nature. Saying that, I would no doubt take The Diary Of A Bookseller in a pinch because it is a great book.

5.) Which book has been on this shelf for the longest time?

That has to be The Irregular! Hodder asked me if I wanted a copy and I loved the premise so I gladly accepted. I still desperately want to read it but I can never find the time so it will no doubt spend another eternity on that shelf.

6.) Which book is the newest addition to this shelf?

The Forbidden City by Deborah A. Wolf. What a book! That will always stay a part of my collection because it is a fantastic read coated in exquisite artwork.

7.) Which book from this shelf are you most excited to read (or re-read if this is a favourites shelf?)

From Here To Eternity is on my top five NF re-reads list. It is a hugely relevant book that made me took a long hard look at my views on death. I would gladly read it again, as soon as I ever find the time that is.

8.) If there is an object on this shelf apart from books, tell us the story behind it.

No objects… though the top of this bookcase is filled with stuff I have to keep out of the way of my small yet indefatigable children.

9.) What does this shelf tell us about you as a reader?

It shows I am a diverse, multifaceted and passionate reader who can read pretty much anything and get excited about it. Pretty much sums me up perfectly as a reader.

10.) Choose other bloggers to tag or choose a free question you make up yourself.

I am not going to tag anyone but I will add a question if anyone does undertake this brilliant tag. If you could go back and re-read one book from the shelf for the first time, which would you choose?

Thank you for coming by to see my first go at Beth’s Shelfie by Shelfie tag. Make sure to give Beth’s blog a visit and follow. Now you know a little more about my book collection. I will certainly be doing more instalments of this tag in the future. I hope to see more bloggers getting involved in this tag so take the time to do at least one, it is great fun! Thank you Beth for all your time, support and encouragement. I am grateful to be able to blog alongside you.

  1. You’ve made my day Stuart and thank you so much for your kind words. Love your answers too especially your emergency one – what a brilliant book to have in an actual emergency!! 😂 I still have to read Smoke Gets In Your Eyes, Doughty’s first book but hoping to get to that soon!

  2. It seems so backwards to keep your hardcovers up by your bed, and your paperbacks downstairs for all to see! You’re supposed to show off the hardcovers!! 😍😍 I just ordered a copy of Hot to Stop Time. I’m excited to read it!! 💖🍻

  3. Awww, I love this!! Thank you for taking the time to do the tag. Somewhat selfishly, I *love* checking out other people’s bookshelves – I worry I creep out new friends when I visit their houses for the first time, because I’m drawn to them. (And great use of the word “indefatigable”, by the way 😉 it’s one of my favourites!!)
