I’m A Rockstar #Tag

Welcome to another un-bookish tag here on Always Trust In Books. I try and keep the focus on books on my blog but music is such a huge part of my life, especially metal, and I couldn’t resist getting involved with this tag. Thank you to Brizzlelass Books for the nomination. The I’m A Rockstar looks like a good laugh so let’s get to it 😀

What is the name of your band, or if you are a solo artist, your stage name (example: Lady Ga Ga, Snoop Dog, Puddles the Clown, etc…)?

It depends on the band. If it was pop-punk I would probably go with something like Epic Wedgie. If it was Doom Metal I would go with Tectonic Rage or something similar. I had a Rock Band band with my friends growing up called Crunchy Scalps. (I know… blurgggh. It was procedurally generated by the game and we kept it for a laugh).

What genre or style of music are you known for?

The many shades of rock/metal. I listen to so many different bands that it is hard to pinpoint an exclusive sub-genre of metal. At the moment I seem to be listening to A LOT of Volbeat, Alestorm and Municipal Waste. If you like popular music but sung in a rock/metal style then I recommend Our Last Night or Andrew Vincent at Ten Second Songs.

What instrument do you play or are you the lead singer?

I have always wanted to be a lead singer. I sing okay, just not good enough to front a band unfortunately :(. I am currently learning to play the Ukulele as I thought it would be fun to play, just jamming in the living room with my sons, having a laugh. I really am a Rockstar!

If you could be the opening act for any band currently touring who would it be?

How am I meant to choose this! So many bands. If you forced me to pick, I would go with Cancer Bats. They are a Canadian metal band who have so much energy it is unreal. They certainly are not for everyone! But they are true heroes to me.

Who would you name as your musical inspiration? This person can be currently breathing, or not.

Corey Taylor, Chester Bennington, James Hetfield, Liam Cormier, Frank Sinatra, Keith Flint, Lzzy Hale, Benjamin Kowalewicz, Benji Webbe, Tony Foresta, Angela Gossow, Oli Sykes, Lawrence Taylor and so many more!!

What special item do you ask for in your dressing room on a tour contract rider?

I would only request two things. Johnny Walker Black Label and Death Wish coffee 😀 Very rockstar indeed 😉

What item from home do you pack in your suitcase to take on tour?

My family photo album. So when I am not rocking the microphone, I can annoy people constantly by talking about my kids non-stop. I am one of those people *aggressive eye-rolling*

What does your stage attire look like?

I would change it up every night, t-shirt and shorts, 3 piece suit, boiler suit etc. A bit like Wes Borland from Limp Bizkit but toned down A LOT!

What backstage nickname have the roadies given you based on your personality?

Probably Stuffy or something like that because I eat so much… 😅

Every successful rockstar has a special charity. What’s yours?

Save The Children. Kids shouldn’t suffer because of the decisions adults make and this charity protects them first. I wish I could give more than I do so being a success would make that easier.

What is the title of your memoir going to be?

The Story of a Crowd-Surfing Crusader or something equally as dorky I assume.
