Liebster Award – Take Three -Nominated By @BrizzleLass (Thank you!)

Welcome! I have been nominated to participate in the Liester Award 🙂 Thanks to BrizzleLass Books for the nomination. There are a few rules to this:

  • Answer the 11 questions the person asked you
  • Nominate 11 people (comment on their blog to let them know)
  • Ask the people you have nominated 11 questions

Claire’s Questions!

What book first got you into reading?

I would have to say Harry Potter as that was the series that I grew up with. I have always had a fascination with books I was eager to read anything. I can still remember reading Of Mice And Men at school and talking about it to everyone who will listen. I will never tire of books.

If you could be transported to one bookish world what would it be?

Westoros. It is the furthest departure from our comfy existence that I can think of, apart from going sci-fi. I would be interested in living in a world where each day is a challenge of wits and skill. A huge adventure filled with huge risks and dangerous men/women or worse. Good times 😅

....................................................................................................

Describe your perfect book.

My perfect novel would be character and plot driven. I love being able to connect with characters through intimate but chaotic story lines. It needs to have a homorous edge to it as the more I laugh, the more I remember. I don’t think I will ever find the perfect novel as my tastes are forever changing.

.....................................................................................................

What is your favourite quote?

I am awful with book quotes. I can never remember them! I have an easier time remembering movie quotes but that is still hard. It seems to be a blind spot for me as a reader! I will share an inspiration quote here to make up for my lack of memory.

“The goal isn’t to live forever, the goal is to create something that will.”

Chuck Palahniuk, Diary

What makes you laugh out loud?

Sketch comedy and dark, sarcastic humour. I like terrible comedy to, stuff that is so bad it is hilarious. I am constantly chuckling to myself about a silly or bizarre moment I have read in a book.

Should we visit your hometown? Why (not)?

I have lived in Norwich for only 6 years but I feel more at home here than anywhere else. I couldn’t imagine leaving. It is a great city full of history and music. I want my kids to grow up here as it has everything we need. Just as shame about the drivers…

...........................................................................................................

What three words would you use to describe yourself?

Challenging. Dedicated. Bookish.

If you could go anywhere in the world where and why?

There are so many libraries in the world that I want to see! I would do a world tour of all the biggest libraries if I had the money. It is pretty nerdy but still true. Starting with Livraria Lello in Barcelona 😃 Libraries are full of history, cultural and secrets waiting to be found. Couldn’t think of a better place to hide away for a while.

What is top of your bucket list?

Sky-diving, London Marathon and driving a Bugatti Veyron are all tied at the top of the list.

If you could only read one genre for the rest of your life which would you choose?

Don’t make me choose! I have already thought about this quite a bit and I would go with mystery novels. I love a good mystery and it is interesting to see if an author can keep me in the dark right till the end.

Which Game of Thrones character are you?

This is an interesting question. I would probably go with Tyrion Lannister because I am always plotting. I am quite good at reading people and predicting their behaviour. Though I could easily be compared to Podrick as I am loyal as well 😆.

Here are my questions:

  1. Best book of 2017 so far?
  2. If you could own a bookshop or a library, which would you choose?
  3. What is your cure for a reading slump?
  4. What is your most anticipated release for the second half of 2017?
  5. If you could have a night out with three authors (living or dead) who would you take to a bar?
  6. What is the last non-fiction book you read?
  7. If your not reading, you are…?
  8. Approximately how many books do you own at this current moment?
  9. Tell us three things about your current read.
  10. Is there a book you have read that changed your life?
  11. Is there an author, in your opinion, that can do no wrong?

  1. Congratulations on the award!
I don’t know about living in Westeros (would get myself killed very easilu) but I’d love to have Tyrion as a friend hahaha (I don’t think we’re super alike but we’d get along just fine)
Podrick is so lovely too! I wish we’d see more of him. I loved his dynamic with both Tyrion and Brienne.
    Great post 😊
